Kullu
Dussehra
The
Kullu Valley, known as 'Kulanthapitha' (Valley of Gods), hosts the annual
Dussehra celebration, attracting thousands of tourists worldwide. The festival
dates back to the 16th century and is linked to the legend of King Jagat Singh
of Kullu. The celebrations include music, dance, and colorful decorations
symbolizing happiness and abundance. In 2016, the festival made its way to the
Guinness World Record for bringing together more than 9,000 dancers for the
largest voluntary folk dance performance. Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the
2021 Kullu Dussehra celebrations were altered to ensure safety, with strict
social distancing and crowd control measures enforced.
