Holiday
Highlight
Marooned Without a Compass Day
The
Oxford Dictionary defines "marooned" as "trapped and alone in an
inaccessible place, especially an island." Many of us experience this
feeling, as if stranded on a metaphorical island or lost in the labyrinth of
our minds. Just as a compass guides us, we are inherently connected to nature,
urging us to find our direction and reject paths that don’t align with our
purpose.
This
day also highlights the prevalence of self-help culture in America. With
thousands of self-help books published each year, they often appear on
nightstands as popular gifts. While their effects may be hard to quantify, it’s
clear that people seek guidance and support to help themselves.
As
we reflect on the origins of this holiday, we recognize that many share the
anxiety of feeling lost. We all navigate these challenges in our own ways,
striving to move forward and overcome our struggles.
