 World Cotton Day

World Cotton Day was launched on October 7, 2019, by the Cotton Four countries: Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, and Mali. The event was organized by the World Trade Organization (WTO) Secretariat with the assistance of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the International Cotton Advisory Committee (ICAC), and the International Trade Centre (ITC).

Cotton is vital for many rural laborers and smallholders, meeting 27% of the world's textile needs. It benefits over 100 million families across 75 countries and is used in various products. World Cotton Day aims to enhance cotton development assistance, recognize those involved in cotton production and trading, advance technology and research, and find new investors within the private sector.
