 Holiday Spotlight

Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day

In 1993, Gospel Light established Sunday School Teacher Appreciation Day to honor Sunday school teachers nationwide. Sunday schools, often held in churches, offer classes to teach about Christianity. The first Sunday school in the U.S. was set up in 1799 by Samuel Slater in Rhode Island, inspiring the American Sunday school movement. Sunday school teachers are usually volunteers who teach children about faith and life values, and they are expected to have good character and community standing.
