Holiday
Spotlight
National Hot Mulled Cider Day
Before
pumpkin spice lattes, fall in America meant hot ciders and spicy drinks. The
end of September signals the start of the holiday season and a time to enjoy
hot mulled cider. Americans have always loved apple cider, which was introduced
by Europeans, and the first U.S. cider distillery, Laird's, was established in
1780. The modern love for mulled cider comes from its popularization in the
Victorian era, thanks to Charles Dickens' mention of 'Smoking Bishop' in
"A Christmas Carol." National Hot Mulled Cider Day is the perfect
time to warm up our ciders and prepare for the chilly winds of October.
