1848 – A new constitution marks the establishment of Switzerland as a federal state.

1906 – Viscount Tredegar opened The Newport Transporter Bridge in Newport, South Wales.

1915 – French soldiers rescue over 4,000 Armenian genocide survivors stranded on Musa Dagh.

1933 – Leó Szilárd, waiting for a red light on Southampton Row in Bloomsbury, conceives the idea of the nuclear chain reaction.

Barry Larkin's passing in 1995 hit his family and friends hard. In 2009, his son Gavin Larkin launched the R U OK? campaign to honor his father and help prevent more suicides. R U OK? is a charity that encourages open conversations to support people through tough times. The focus is on improving the skills of those offering help and breaking down the stigma around mental illness.

They were dancing and playing music that made everyone want to join in. And the floats, Emily! They were like something out of a big and beautiful storybook! And guess what?
