Holiday
International
Clouded Leopard Day
The
clouded leopard diverged from pantherine cats millions of years ago and is
locally extinct in several regions. With their population suspected to be fewer
than 10,000 mature individuals and facing threats from deforestation and
poaching, efforts such as captive breeding programs have been initiated to
protect them. International Clouded Leopard Day was established in 2018 to
raise awareness about these animals and the dangers they face, ultimately
aiming to conserve their habitat.
