Holiday
RATH
YATRA
The
Jagannath Rath Yatra is a big deal in Hinduism. It happens once a year in Puri,
India, and it's all about celebrating Lord Jagannath's journey. During the
festival, devotees drag chariots carrying figures of Lord Krishna, Balaram, and
Subhadra to the Jagannath temple. The chariots are massive, and they're made
without using any measures or nails, just wooden pegs and old-school joints.
The festival is a big cultural and religious event, drawing people from
different communities, including hill tribes in Odisha. "Jagannath"
means "the Lord of the Universe," and the festival represents
important principles of Hinduism, like Saivism, Shaktism, and Vaishnavism.
