Highlighted Holiday

ARRL FIELD DAY

The first ARRL Field Day occurred in June 1933, and the W4PAW team won with 1876 points. It has since become an annual tradition, except during World War II from 1942 to 1945. Field Day is known for its high-frequency contest, which aims to contact as many stations as possible. The event, sponsored by the International Amateur Radio Union (IARU), promotes emergency preparedness activities and demonstrates technical proficiency. Additionally, it has a social aspect with camping, cookouts, and rotating radio shifts to keep stations on the air. Field Day also attracts publicity for amateur radio and features demonstrations of various communication technologies.
