Holiday Highlight

Scream Day

Scream Day reminds us of the therapeutic benefits of screaming. We've all experienced relief from a good, hearty howl, whether it's into a pillow, in the car, or in the privacy of an empty room. This act of vocal release can be a powerful tool for managing stress and promoting mental well-being.

Scream Day doesn’t have a long history or traditions, but this will likely change in a few years as we learn more about screaming, and our pressure-filled lifestyles compel us to turn to new ways of venting and releasing tension. And although this holiday doesn’t have a long history, screaming itself has been considered healing for centuries. Over 2,000 years ago, screaming was considered therapeutic and supplementary to Eastern medicine. Master of Chinese medicine, Dr. Lu, believes that screaming aids with Liver stagnation.

Arthur Yanov designed primal screaming to process emotions and let them out with a long howl. Evidence shows that screaming taps deep emotions and brings them to the surface.

While screaming has benefits, it's crucial to use this emotional release method responsibly. It should never be used to make others uncomfortable or justify harmful behavior towards others. The key is to find a safe and private space where you can scream freely without infringing on the comfort or rights of others.
