Holidays And Observances

“National Science and Engineering Day”

Science is the history, current affairs, and future of the universe. It’s defined as intellectual and practical learning incorporating systematic study and observation of natural order. For everything and anything, there is science. Science also unravels the mysteries and secrets of the world. The revolution in scientific experimentation gave birth to modern civilization as we know it today. All things, from healthcare to entertainment, are products of scientific development. Science is an umbrella term that includes terminologies like technology, engineering, physics, chemistry, math, psychology, social science, and geography.

The periods of human history can be divided based on the development of science during those periods. In the Dark Ages, there was little scientific and cultural development. War, poverty, and death held sway during such periods. But no matter how deep the curve, science has always risen from where it left off last time. Every country invests heavily in the study and development of science. There are organizations worldwide to promote and involve themselves in the development and reach of science. The British Science Association is one such organization that started in 1831.

Since the inception of National Science and Engineering Week, activities have been lined up to commemorate the week. These programs are inclusive and include science, technology, and social sciences. The activities are for all ages and are held at schools, museums, libraries, and shopping centers.
