J.R.R Tolkien 1893-1973


 Today in 1954 J.R.R. Tolkien published the first book of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. One of the most beloved fantasy works of all time.

J.R.R. Tolkien, whose full name is John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, was an English writer, poet, philologist, and university professor. He was born on January 3, 1892, and passed away on September 2, 1973. Tolkien is best known for his epic high fantasy works, particularly "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy.
"The Hobbit," published in 1937, is a children's fantasy novel and serves as a prelude to "The Lord of the Rings." It follows the journey of Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who embarks on an adventure with a group of dwarves to reclaim their homeland from the dragon Smaug.
"The Lord of the Rings" trilogy consists of three books: "The Fellowship of the Ring," "The Two Towers," and "The Return of the King." It was published between 1954 and 1955. This epic fantasy series explores the quest to destroy the One Ring, an evil artifact created by the dark lord Sauron to control the lands of Middle Earth.
Tolkien's works have had a profound and lasting impact on the fantasy genre, influencing numerous writers, filmmakers, and artists. He is considered one of the most significant authors in fantasy literature, and his stories have captivated generations of readers worldwide.
